‘Idol' winner knows fame is fleeting, enrolls in college
4/3/2012Sensible people know it's good to have a backup plan and clearly "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery is one of them. The singer is keeping his options open by enrolling at his dad's old college, North Carolina State. No word yet on what the deep-voiced teen will study, but it's nice to know he'll have something to fall back on if music doesn't work out -- not that we think he'll be worrying about that anytime soon. At 18 he's already had an album go platinum, toured with Brad Paisley and started filling his trophy cabinet, most recently with Sunday night's Best New Artist gong at the ACMs. Yup, we think he'll be fine.
