10-year-old girl arrested and expelled for bringing pot to school
11/30/2012A 10-year-old girl was arrested at her elementary school when police found she was carrying marijuana. The girl was handcuffed at Evans Elementary School in El Paso County, Colo., before being turned over to her parents and expelled from the school. The girl's father explained that the marijuana was his and had been issued as part of a medical treatment for chronic pain and ADHD. He also claimed his daughter stole it from his locked room after having been told not to touch it. The decision to expel the girl came from the school's zero-tolerance policy for marijuana, even if it had been legally obtained as part of a medical prescription. [Source]
