6-year-old spelling genius makes us feel dumb
3/14/2012For those of us who can't get through a work day without spellcheck, prepare to feel dumb: 6-year-old Lori Anne Madison has become the youngest person to win a place at the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. And if that's not impressive enough, the word she spelled to earn her place there was "vaquero." (Congratulations if you know what it means!) The linguistics genius told Fox News she'd been well-prepped by her parents (Spelling Moms, anyone?) and is considering a degree in astrobiology.
Just to make you feel better, she hasn't always been so successful: At age 3 she lost her first spelling bee by misspelling "transcend." Feel better? No, us neither.
