70-year-old crossing guard going for 12th college degree

5/3/2012

A 70-year-old crossing guard at a primary school in the United Kingdom already has 11 college degrees, but that's not stopping him from going for a 12th. Bruce Berry, a member of Mensa, is keeping himself busy these days working toward his second Ph.D. "I like to keep an open mind," Berry told the BBC. "Anything which catches my interest, I go for it." Although studies have mostly focused on languages, his first doctorate is in philosophy. He's totally ready if one of the kids crossing the street on his watch asks him something in another language about Sartre or wants to discuss Nietzsche's "God is dead" commentary.
