75-year-old golfer wrestles gator in water hazard
5/2/2012
In an incident that brings literal meaning to the term "water hazard," a golfer in Florida came thisclose to being dragged into a pond by an alligator. Albert Miller, 75, had played 14 holes without a near-death experience, but on the 15th, he hit a bad shot that landed with a splash. When he leaned over the pond to retrieve his ball, an alligator "launched himself" at Miller, grabbing the man's leg in his mouth and attempting to pull him into the water. "I was three feet from my life," Miller said. "He had me submerged up to my belt buckle. That was my miracle of the month." (Um, of the MONTH?!) Miller needed 40 stitches to close the wound.
