11/10/2012This should probably go without saying, but don't buy an iPad (or anything for that matter) out of the trunk of a car at a gas station. Alas, impulse and the allure of unbelievable discounts has burned most of us at some point or another. Jalonta Freeman of Arlington, Texas, who recently purchased a $200 mirror disguised as an iPad, is not alone. The old iPad switcheroo scam isn't new to North Texas. Last year, more than a dozen reports of people selling fake iPads and MacBooks out of their cars popped up around that area, as well as Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, in the weeks before the holidays.
