Poll finds majority of Americans want abortion to be legal

On the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court issuing its landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, there are few issues that remain as hot-button as abortion. But a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, for the first time, found that a majority of Americans believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases. The poll also found that seven in 10 oppose overturning Roe v. Wade. Of those surveyed, 54 percent believe abortion should be legal either always or most of the time, while 44 said it should be illegal either with or without exceptions. Pollsters say much of this shift is from blacks, Latinos and women without college degrees. [Source]
