Activists rough up women for partying, being 'indecent'

A video of activists in India roughing up women allegedly because they were partying and dressing "indecently" has gone viral. The footage shows men from a group called Hindu Jagrana Vedike raiding a resort during what’s reportedly a birthday celebration, grabbing partygoers, shaking them and shouting. In a particularly rough moment (around 1:29 in the above video), which has sparked much of the outrage, you can see a man slap a woman square across the cheek. At other moments activists are seen prying women's hands from their faces in an attempt to expose them to the media. HJV says local police are not doing enough to prevent immoral activity in Mangalore and are angry about a recent state-sponsored rave party, but women’s rights advocates the world over are furious.
