Only a native New Yorker could get away with a shtick like this without getting beaten up by the backstage door. Watch funnyman Adam Sandler and a super smiley Paul Shaffer perform a mildly NSFW version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at last night's Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, transforming the dirge into a totally off-key NYC tribute. Forget Biblical references, Sandler's ballsy chorus goes, "Sandy, screw ya, we'll get through ya, because we're New Yawkers." No references to flooded subways and power outages here, just pokes at the city's laundry list of irritants like squeegee men, bedbugs, the Mets' bad luck and Donald Trump's omnipresent, embarrassing comb-over.
