'Advergames' might be making kids fatter
1/10/2013Food companies have literally upped their game with the advent of "Advergames"— a genre of online games for kids based on junk food products. Two prime examples: "Cookie Dough Bites Factory" and "Candy Sports." Concerned scientists at the University of Amsterdam did a study comparing two groups of kids: one group played a game based on a food-focused concept, the other group played a regular, non-food game, and guess what? The food-gamers ate twice as many calories afterwards! Brainwashing is clearly afoot. Heck, we're adults and just the name "Cookie Dough Bites Factory" made us wolf down half a package of raw cookie dough while writing this. [Source]
