Paging Rosa Parks: Israel introduces 'Palestinian-only' buses
3/3/2013This might not end well. A bus company in Israel is launching separate lines for Jews and Arabs on some routes from the West Bank to central Israel. The Afikim bus company will operate Palestinian-only lines from West Bank security checkpoints into Israel, after Israeli settlers complained that the Arabs on their buses were a security risk. The Israeli Transportation Ministry has said the new policy is “intended to improve the services to Palestinian workers that enter Israel." They did not comment on the buses' segregated nature, but said the move would relieve workers inconvenienced by frequent long waits to clear security checkpoints. [Source]
