Iran's Ahmadinejad wants to be an astronaut when he grows up
2/4/2013Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, never one to be accused of lacking in blind ambition and grand ideas, has added a new bullet point to his fantasy resume: space cadet. After last week's possibly bogus monkey space flight, Iran says it wants to launch its first manned space flight in five to six years. Ahmadinejad has reportedly stepped up and volunteered for the role of Iran's first astronaut and is "willing to sacrifice his life" for Iran's space program — a not-unlikely outcome considering its dubious (read: nonexistent) history. An enthusiastic show of support for this plan from the rest of the world is all but guaranteed. [Source]
