Bailed-out AIG thanks America, but it may sue government
1/8/2013It's not a move that's going to endear Wall Street to Main Street. Or any other street, anywhere in America. You might have seen those "Thank You America" commercials currently on heavy rotation, which ostensibly profess the gratitude of bailed-out insurance firm AIG. Now the company is considering biting the hand of the American taxpayer that fed it an $182 billion bailout: According to the New York Times, AIG is considering participating in a lawsuit against the government, which holds that the terms of its bailout agreement (high interest rates and a large stake in the company) were unfair and onerous to its shareholders.
