College football star quits team, says he was called 'f*ggot' by coach

11/19/2012

Is University of Minnesota wide receiver A.J. Barker a hero fighting against abusive coaches who push their players too far, or is he a narcissistic baby throwing a hissy fit? That depends on your perspective, but he definitely has a lot to say about why he's quitting the team and switching schools. Among the reasons Barker lists in a 4,000-plus-word open letter to head coach Jerry Kill: Gophers tight-ends coach Rob Reeves called Barker a "f*ggot" for his "spiritual views" (Barker has said he's an atheist). Whichever side you're on, maybe we can all agree it wouldn't be the worst thing if Barker's new school taught him that "tirade" isn't spelled "tyraid." [Source]
