Drinkers get about 10 percent of daily calories from alcohol

In addition to hangovers, vomiting and drunk texting, there's a more weighty consequence of drinking: calories. Yes, alcohol contains calories (lots of them), and for folks who enjoy imbibing, a significant amount of their caloric intake may come from booze. A new study has found that regular drinkers get nearly 10 percent of their calories from alcohol. Apparently most drinkers don’t know or ignore the fact that booze contains empty calories, but if the thought of abstinence alarms you, think of Homer Simpson’s physique before you toss one back.
