Study reminds us that alcoholic beverages have calories, too11/16/2012
A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that alcohol has as many, and in some instances more, empty calories as soda. Clutch those beers, New Yorkers! Kidding, though maybe Mayor Michael Bloomberg might want to take a peek at the findings, which reported that the average man got 150 calories per day from booze (equivalent to a can of Bud) and the average woman, 50 (about a half glass a wine). To put that in perspective, a 12-ounce can of Coke has 140 calories. It also found that adults get 6 percent of their calories from soda and sweetened drinks and about 5 percent from booze. Still, we say have another! [Source]
