Alec Baldwin tries to buy back good graces with $1M gift
7/3/2012Yesterday, Alec Baldwin snatched headlines for quitting Twitter and sharing homicidal fantasies about perceived enemies. ("I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes," he said of TMZ's Harvey Levin to Vanity Fair). Today, he's grabbing attention for a splashy philanthropic act: giving $1 million to the New York Philharmonic to honor outgoing president Zarin Mehta. "I have loved classical music all of my life, but Zarin Mehta made my dream of becoming part of the world of classical music come true," Baldwin, who serves on the organization's board, said. Way to stick a knife in the bad PR and kill it.
