A-Rod needs hip surgery because he's a 37-year-old third baseman
12/3/2012Like thoroughbreds, athletes rarely age gracefully. Most tend to breakdown from the years of wear and tear. For the New York Yankees’ two biggest (and geriatric) stars, the pasture might not be far off. During Game 1 of the ALCS in October, Derek Jeter suffered a season-ending ankle fracture. Today comes news that Alex Rodriguez will need his second hip surgery in three years, which could sideline him until June. The 37-year-old A-Rod had surgery on his right hip in 2009, and will undergo surgery on his left hip in January. At the very least, he’ll now have ample time to practice hitting on women in the stands. [Source]
