'Alien-like' skulls found in ancient cemetery were deliberately warped

12/22/2012

Human skulls deliberately elongated into weird, oblong, "alien-like" formations have been found in the first pre-Hispanic cemetery excavated in Sonora, in northern Mexico. Of the 25 skeletons interred in the burial site, which dates back more than 1,000 years, 13 had elongated skulls and only one was female. Many were ornamented, and five had purposefully mutilated teeth — teeth ground or filed into unconventional shapes. Seventeen of the skeletons were children. It is still unknown why it was considered attractive to bind children's heads and make them look the back of a cocktail sausage, but who knows what future archaeologists will think if they should one day find our remains with boob, butt and chin implants.
