'Dark Knight' shooter told authorities he was 'The Joker'

The man suspected of shooting 71 moviegoers — killing 12 — at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colo., told authorities he was The Joker, the villainous character from the Batman series. NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said James Holmes, the alleged gunman, told law enforcement officials he had dyed his hair like The Joker. Officials said Holmes was heavily armed, carrying a “military-style AR-15 assault rifle with a high-capacity drum-style clip, a shotgun and two handguns.” Holmes also wore several bulletproof vests and a gas mask.
