Amanda Bynes avoids jail by paying people off

There are hot messes and there is Amanda Bynes, who is a blistering wreck of the highest order. Like many a celeb, she does, however, have a penchant for avoiding real punishment. The actress reached a civil settlement with other drivers in her misdemeanor hit-and-run cases (she was charged with leaving accident scenes in April and August without giving proper information) and thus avoided jail time. Bynes was able to bypass a criminal court because California allows defendants in some misdemeanor cases to enter civil settlements. The L.A. City Attorney’s Office, naturally, were not pleased, noting Bynes was reportedly driving without a license and also has a pending DUI case. [Source]
