Watching this baby elephant rescue will make your day hugely better

10/18/2012

When a team of conservationists from Amboseli Trust for Elephants in Kenya received a call that a baby elephant had fallen into a well, they knew they had to act quickly. It was still early morning and ranchers hadn't yet arrived to water their herds. Arriving on the scene, the team found the 8-month-old calf trapped and unable get out, and its mother pacing nervously. After shooing the mother back to give themselves enough room to work, the team uses ropes and their truck to pull the calf to freedom. The elated calf darts off across the landscape in search of its mother, and several minutes later, the two are reunited. Keep the tissues handy — you'll need them for this reunion.
