Oregon woman spends summer as a mermaid because why not

People say the best thing about getting older is being able to do whatever you darn well please. For Pauline Long, this maxim has manifested into a summer spent as … a mermaid. The 56-year-old dreamer from Portland, Ore., whipped up some fancy fins and has been spotted cavorting in public pools in her mermaid guise. Long, a member of the Northwest Mermaids organization, said she wanted to be one of the mythical creatures when she was a kid: "If you don't do it as a child, why not do it as an adult?
