NY millionaire on trial, charged with keeping a slave in her mansion

A New York socialite is on trial for allegedly keeping a slave for six-and-a-half years in her mansion in upstate New York. Millionaire Annie George (shown above) is charged with harboring an undocumented illegal immigrant, with Valsamma Mathai, 49, testifying she was forced to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week and sleep in a walk-in closet in George's mansion in Rexford, even though it has 26 bedrooms. Mathai said George's late husband offered her a job, but she soon discovered she wasn't allowed to leave. The plight of Mathai, an undocumented immigrant from India, came to light after her son tipped off authorities. [Source]
