Anonymous critic accuses Vietnamese restaurant of cooking rats
7/30/2012The owner of a Vietnamese restaurant in St. Petersburg, Fla., is fighting back against an anonymous person's complaint to the state that he is cooking up rats in a shack behind his eatery. The evidence is lacking — the news report shows footage of rats being cooked in Vietnam and seems to suggest that it could be happening at the Thuy Café, too. A state inspection conducted last month uncovered 18 critical violations -- including rodent droppings and chopped produce held in Home Depot paint buckets -- but Thuy Café's owner promises that rat pho isn't on his menu. He wrote on the café’s Facebook page: "This allegation, which apparently came from some ‘anonymous source’ (which I believe was prompted by jealousy) was not supported by any evidence whatsoever, is totally untrue, utterly false, and blatantly defamatory."
