Another CNN reporter says 'f**king n*gger' on the air4/9/2012
Somebody over at CNN needs to schedule an all-employee training session because two different reporters have used the N-word on the all-news network in the last three weeks. The latest came Sunday night when correspondent Susan Candiotti read the Facebook posting of a suspect in the shooting of five black men in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It contained the N-word and an F-bomb, and Candiotti quoted both terms, uncensored, on-air. (It's at the 2:00 mark in the above video.)
In March, CNN reporter Drew Griffin relayed the same two words when reading quotes from a man convicted of a murderous hate crime. Griffin said the full N-word, but, unlike Candiotti, opted to say, "effing."
How should journalists handle using racial slurs that are related to a story being reported?
