Another town asks Obama to pay for a campaign stop
6/24/2012A New Hampshire town wants President Obama to foot the bill for an upcoming campaign stop. The town of Durham is asking for $30,000 to cover the extra police and fire coverage for Obama's Monday address at the University of New Hampshire because the move is associated with the campaign and not a standard presidential visit. The move is similar to one the opulently rich California town of Newport Beach pulled last month, billing the Obama campaign for $35,000 after a February fundraiser. Nothing had been resolved by the end of the workweek, but Durham officials were hoping to come to an agreement with Obama for America before the weekend was out.
Who should pay for the visit?
