Anti-Barack Obama documentary rocks the box office
8/25/2012So much for Hollywood's supposedly liberal bias. The anti-Barack Obama documentary" 2016: Obama’s America" managed a fourth-place finish in Friday’s box office numbers with $2.2 million earned on Friday and an estimated $6.0 million for the weekend. "2016," based on the book "The Roots of Obama's Rage" by conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, was also the highest earning new film of the weekend and is set to become the top-earning conservative documentary of all time. Insiders say the movie received a boost from heavy pre-order sales, marketing to the same audience as many faith-based movies, and a debut just ahead of the Republican National Convention on August 27 in Tampa. Between "2016's" unexpected success and Arnold Schwarzenegger's role in the top-grossing "Expendables 2," it’s a pretty good time to be a Republican at the movies. [Source]
