Jewish group joins the list of people offended by Seth MacFarlane
2/25/2013Seth MacFarlane is already catching heat for his Oscar-night mocking of blacks, gays and actresses who’ve gone topless in films. On Monday, the list of angry people got longer when a prominent Jewish organization objected to his wisecracks. Performing in-character as the vulgar computer-animation bear “Ted,” who presented an award with Mark Wahlberg, MacFarlane joked that Jews controlled Tinsel Town and keeping them happy was a pre-condition for working there. "I was born Theodore Shapiro, and I would like to donate to Israel and continue to work in Hollywood forever,” the bear said, to much laughter. But the head of the Anti-Defamation League didn’t appreciate the joke, calling the bit "offensive and not remotely funny." Longtime ADL chief Abraham Foxman said the gag "only reinforces stereotypes which legitimize anti-Semitism." [Source]
