Watch an anti-texting-and-driving ad that might actually be effective

10/8/2012

We don't speak French (despite the best efforts of our high school teachers) but it's hard to miss the message in this PSA from the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec. The Canadian organization has unveiled a public service campaign to discourage texting while driving, and they've given it the appropriately morbid name "Every Letter Can Kill." This ad shows drivers through history fumbling with everything from quill pens to typewriters, as the voiceover points out that "there must have been a good reason" that we didn't always write messages while we were behind the wheel. But the ending is the part that will make us think twice before hitting "reply" while en route.
