NYC mayor blames 2012 crime climb on iPhone and iPad thefts
12/28/2012Big Apple thieves prefer Apple products. On Friday, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg blamed iPhone and iPad thefts for the slight uptick in city crime this year. The NYPD calculated 3,484 more major crimes in 2012 than 2011. The increase in Apple product thefts alone was even greater: 3,890. Homicides, meanwhile, dropped to their lowest annual number since tracking began in 1963. "If you just took away the jump in Apple, we'd be down for the year," noted the mayor’s press secretary. The mayor advised everyone to thwart would-be thieves by putting devices in an interior pocket. If you don't and they get stolen, he can say iToldyouso. [Source]
