Apple's latest phenomenally innovative patent? Turning a page

Apple is known as one of the most innovative companies in technology and design, but they are steadily developing a new, not-so-good reputation: patent troll. This week, Apple was granted a patent for the "display screen or portion thereof with animated graphical user interface," specifically when that screen shows a digital page turning. Yes, Apple not only had the balls to go to the patent office and claim that they are the innovators responsible for showing a picture of a turning page, the patent office actually read that request and said, "Sure, seems reasonable." The patent system may have been meant to help inventors protect their inventions, but now it's being used to lay claim to the digital image of something as old as recorded history. [Source]
