Yasser Arafat will be exhumed and his remains checked for poison
11/24/2012Palestinian officials will exhume the body of Yasser Arafat on Tuesday to investigate accusations that his death was due to poisoning by a radioactive substance. The former Palestinian Liberation Organization leader died in Paris in 2004 following a serious illness blamed on a stroke. But France began a murder investigation in August after Swiss experts hired by an al-Jazeera TV crew found high levels of radioactive polonium-210 on Arafat's personal effects, including his trademark keffiyeh headdress. Polonium-210 is the same chemical that poisoned ex-KGB officer Alexander Litvinenko in a London restaurant in 2006. [Source]
