Aretha laughs but gives Beyonce 'Respect' for lip-syncing
1/23/2013We may be disappointed, but Aretha Franklin confesses that the whole Beyonce lip-syncing hoopla cracked her up. "When I heard the news ... I really laughed," Franklin told ABC News. "I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers, that is just not good singing weather." At the inauguration four years ago, Aretha nailed her live rendition of "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and says she "wanted to give people the real thing." Still, she says she totally respects Beyonce's decision to go with the recording (if she did), adding "next time I'll probably do the same." [Source]
