Ski area makes snow out of sewage and (surprise!) it comes out yellow

1/12/2013

Skiers might want to ask themselves just how badly they need their adrenaline rush. It was one thing when Arizona Snowbowl was cleared to manufacture snow from sewage effluent piped in from nearby Flagstaff. It was quite another when the first batch came out yellow. It's being blamed on rust in the equipment, but that's not passing the smell test with ecologists. Complaints persist about the snow being tracked into eating areas, and 11-year-old skier Kaelen Monroe admitted, it's "kind of disgusting." But manager J.R Murray insisted, "The skiing is great!" Guess you'd call that being flush with enthusiasm. [Source]
