Armed guard stopped shooter at Atlanta middle school, police say
2/1/2013An armed guard at Atlanta's Price Middle School stopped the student who shot and wounded a 14-year-old in the neck before anyone else was shot, police said. Officials have not said whether the guard is regularly stationed at Price, but they have confirmed he was off-duty at the time of Thursday's shooting. Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said the school security officer "was able to subdue the individual and have him … drop his weapon." The wounded student was alert when taken to the hospital and has been released. Charges against the shooter are still pending, but investigators have said they believe the attack was not random.
