Artist uses 36 miles of yarn to crochet three huge lions

5/3/2012

The 2012 London Olympics has just unveiled a new, spectacular art piece: Three 30-foot lions, with hides crocheted entirely by hand out of 36 miles of wool yarn. Called "Lionheart," artist Shauna Richardon's work is breathtaking both in the amount of labor involved and the beauty of the finished piece. Richardson is one of 12 artists who received roughly $808,850 from Arts Council England to create a distinctly British piece in honor of the upcoming summer games. We feel inspired to macramé a bald eagle right now.
