Army officer's same-sex wife banned from joining spouses club

Ashley Broadway married a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army after a 15-year relationship and will raise their son while her other half is deployed. She's like any other military spouse, save for the fact that she's been banned from joining the Army's spouses club. Broadway and her partner, Lt. Col. Heather Mack, are lesbians. "I was really hurt," Broadway said of her rejection. Babette Maxwell, the founder of Military Spouse Magazine, has fought for Broadway and believes the club should stop making excuses to exclude her.
