World's best bureaucrat reassigned 43 times for not being corrupt

10/27/2012

You don’t hear the term "heroic bureaucrat" very often. But if anyone deserves the title, it’s Ashok Khemka. In a 21-year government career with the northern Indian state of Haryana, Khemka has been reassigned 43 times because he simply refuses to co-operate with any corruption or graft that crosses his desk. The official believes he was hounded from his latest job for questioning a land deal involving a member of India’s politically dominant Nehru-Gandhi family. Shifted from the high-profile directorship of land registration, Khemka has been reassigned to head the state’s seed development body. You know, where the action is. [Source]
