Atheists remove 'sadistic God' signs after a flood of threats
8/25/2012Hate speech and death threats have forced a group of atheists in North Carolina to remove two billboards which targeted President Barack Obama's religion, as well as that of his rival Mitt Romney. The American Atheists' signs, which had blasted Christianity for its "sadistic God" and Mormonism for "magic underwear," among other attacks, were slated to run the duration of the national conventions. However, vitriolic threats began pouring in following a Fox News report Wednesday and the group announced yesterday it will take the $15,000 signs down. A spokeswoman said American Atheists would have kept the signs up but the decision was made alongside the billboard company Adams Outdoor Advertising. [Source]
