Woman's nose leaks brain fluid for 4 months, docs call it 'allergies'

12/3/2012

Aundrea Aragon isn't a doctor, but even she knew something was wrong when clear fluid kept leaking from her nose. Doctors "blew off" her concerns, blaming the liquid on allergies. But Aragon, who is the main caregiver for an autistic daughter, says she wasn't ready to take their word for it. After seeking out second, third and more opinions, Aragon discovered that the fluid wasn't just allergies — it was actually cerebrospinal fluid leaking out of her brain, which could have killed her. Luckily, Aragon finally found a team of doctors familiar with her one-in-100,000 condition. After surgery, she's now fine, though she will have to be monitored for new leaks. [Source]
