Aurora shooting survivors seek support on social media

7/20/2012

Survivors of this morning's tragic shooting at a "Dark Knight Rises" screening in Aurora, Colo., are seeking support in an unlikely place: social media site reddit. One man claiming to have been injured posted photos of a bloody wound, writing, "[My] thoughts go out to those less fortunate than me." A woman saying she was at the theater asked for comfort, writing, "I need an army of kitten photos stat." (She later apologized for sounding as if she were "karma whoring.") Her post spawned this remarkably detailed timeline. And someone claiming to "live across the street" from alleged gunman James Holmes posted photos of the scene, prompting this response: "the internet is incredible. makes the world so much smaller." [Source]
