High schooler's 67-yard field goal is better than any NFL kick ever

10/19/2012

The "wedding bouquet" pass that sent one Washington high school game into overtime was just goofy. But the big moment for Austin Rehkow of Washington's Central Valley High School figures to be more defining: the 67-yard field goal the kicker thundered through the uprights to force overtime in a Spokane game against Shadle Park. Rehkow's Bears eventually prevailed, 62-55, but the winning touchdown was an afterthought. Rehkow found himself on "Good Morning America" within hours of making the second-longest field goal in high school history (and four yards longer than any NFL kick), and figures to be fielding more pitches from college recruiters. "You put me out there," Rehkow told coach Rick Giampetri before the last play, "and I'll do it." [Source]
