Student blows everyone away with show-and-tell item: a WWII grenade
12/5/2012And the most exciting show-and-tell item of the year award goes to … the 11-year-old Aussie girl who brought a hand grenade to school thinking it was a piggy bank. Her alarmed teacher marched her (and the explosive) to the principal's office. Rather than trying to shake out a coin, he called in police and bomb experts and evacuated the school to a nearby park in Newcastle, New South Wales. Turns out the show-and-tell surprise was just a little old inactive World War II pineapple-type grenade, which has since been confiscated by the defense department and is being examined. School was called off for the rest of the day. Wonder what she'll bring in tomorrow? [Source]
