AZ bill says women could be pregnant 2 weeks before sex
4/6/2012If you are a woman who will be ovulating in the next two weeks, congratulations -- you're pregnant! According to new Arizona legislation, gestational age of a fetus would be defined as the first day of the mother's last menstrual period, before the fetus was conceived. That means if you are at virtually any point in your reproductive cycle -- even on your period now -- you could be considered pregnant under the proposed law. The goal of the bill is to outlaw abortions after 20 weeks; however, its wording regarding how to calculate the 20 weeks effectively creates a clairvoyant timeline that could declare women pregnant before having sex.
What do you think of the proposed law?
