Incredible photos of a baby orangutan’s reunion with his mother

3/3/2013

A baby orangutan at Zoo Atlanta was separated from his mother at birth, but now the two are together again and making us weep into our keyboards. Blaze, the mother orangutan, delivered the unnamed baby by cesarean in January. Zoo workers had to keep the pair apart so Blaze could heal, but they've been slowly introducing the mother and son over the last two months. These pictures show the prolonged reunion, which started with Blaze laying down next to the baby and staring at him for long time. Later, she began to gently touch his fur, and now the proud mama cradles the baby and makes "cooing vocalizations" during their frequent meetings. Excuse us, we have to go call our moms. [Source]
