Pathetic soccer team with no fans goes door to door to drum up support

2/25/2013

Knock knock. Who's there? Oh, just players from Singapore's less-than-popular Balestier Khalsa team making door-to-door visits to lure fans to games. While Singaporeans are huge soccer fans, they're bigger supporters of English Premier League teams like Manchester United and Liverpool than they are of their own, which has led to sparse crowds at Balestier Khalsa matches. "The more often the players go knocking on doors, the higher the chances of them becoming familiar with residents," said Balestier Chairman S. Thavaneson. "Who knows, [fans] may become curious and decide to watch a game or two." It's depressing when more people want to see elephants play soccer than real live humans. [Source]
