Bangkok teenagers’ love of ‘Hitler chic’ draws furor
3/4/2012Here's one fashion trend you won't see in Vogue: "Nazi chic" has invaded Bangkok. CNNGo reports that some Thai teenagers have a "childlike fascination" with Adolf Hitler and adorable cartoon versions of his alter egos, including Ronald McDonald, pandas and Teletubbies. The local Israeli ambassador said that the trend "hurts the feelings of every Jew and every civilized person" and asked, during a recent visit to a local market, that a Nazi-saluting "McHitler" statue's mustachioed head be covered. The statue, which was soliciting donations to help flood victims in Thailand, is now wearing a Lucha Libre wrestling mask.
