Man jailed in $1 bank robbery; apparently sought prison time

Sometimes it isn’t the crime that’s puzzling, it’s the intent. By appearances, Jeffrey McMullen of Northern Cambria, Pa., is an unassuming 50-year-old with no known criminal history. But last week, McMullen walked into a bank where he's a regular customer and attempted to rob it for $1 — all in an apparent (and inexplicable) attempt to be sent to federal prison. Police allege McMullen handed three different tellers a note asking for $1. The first two thought the note was a joke, and the third complied  and gave him a buck, then waited for police to arrive. No word on why McMullen wanted to be sent to prison; maybe the food is better than what he's getting at home. [Source]
