Scared a bat could turn you into a vampire? That's the least of your problems. There's evidence that the spooky creatures are spreading a new SARS-like coronavirus. Remember SARS? That's the illness that killed more than 900 people about a decade ago. This evil bat strain making the cross-species jump is believed to be the culprit in the death of a Saudi man in June, and to have sickened two other humans. Yikes. We're not totally blaming the animal kingdom, but with Ebola flying from pigs to monkeys, civet cats catching the blame for SARS, swine flu, bird flu and now this, we're thinking we'll stick to hanging around with people for a while.
